Rentaghost
Rentaghost was a British children’s television comedy show, broadcast by the BBC between 6 January 1976 and 6 November 1984. The show’s plot centered on the antics of a number of ghosts who worked for a firm called Rentaghost, which rented out the spirits for various tasks.

You are right, slightly. It started in the 70's but ended in the 80's and if you grew up in the 80's like most of us here, you should remember it.
